Lambda Mu Omega Chapter

is inspired by a dedicated investment of human capital and a bold commitment to the principles of basic human rights.

Our History

In April 1976, Soror Jessie M. Shaw, a former President of Theta Omega expressed her desire of forming a second, small chapter in Chicago. This chapter would meet during the day. After several sessions with interested people, the women decided that this chapter would emphasize service.

Golden Voices

In July 1976, Jessie M. Shaw and Claudette McFarland Winstead formed an interest group called the Satellite Associates of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The name was the brainchild of Claudette Winstead. The officers were: President – Claudette McFarland Winstead, Secretary – Carmen E. Fair, Treasurer – Florice Green, and Historian – Genevieve Walker
